In this session, Yvette Huerta will share SA Recycling's Second Chance hiring initiative, offering job opportunities to individuals who have been in the criminal justice system.
Tasion Kwamilele leads educational partnerships, and government and public affairs for Radius Recycling. Previously she was the district communications manager for Congresswoman Barbara Lee and the director of public affairs for California Waste Solutions. A graduate of the inaugural class of Oakland School for the Arts, founded by former California Governor Jerry Brown, Tasion obtained a bachelor’s degree in English from Howard University and a Master’s in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley.
Neil Samahon is the president/CEO of Indiana-based Opportunity Enterprises (OE), which has been helping to maximize the self-sufficiency and enrich the quality of life for individuals with disabilities since 1967. OE offers opportunities in the areas of education, residential, respite and vocational, as well as partners with companies to train and assist in growing workforces by creating inclusive work environments. Additionally, OE operates a variety of social enterprises, one of which is a NAID and e-Stewards certified document and electronics destruction service. In his role for three years, Samahon previously spent 25 years in the recycled materials industry where he was the CEO of Metro Recycling. He currently serves on the board of directors for Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (INARF), serving on the Governmental Affairs Committee; Indiana Association of People Supporting Employment First (IN-APSE), serving on the Public Policy Committee; and National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), as chair of the Leadership Council in Indiana.
Yvette Huerta is vice president of human resources for SA Recycling. As a professional with a passion for people, she believes HR professionals should be ambassadors, not hall monitors. Huerta has served as a partner for both employees and management working to achieve their professional goals through exponential growth and overcoming market challenges. She has more than 16 years of experience in multiple roles, including accounting, payroll, benefits, system administration and employee relations.
