Safe workplaces are sound businesses. Safe + Sound Week, taking place Aug. 7-13, is a great opportunity for a company’s senior leadership to work with and better understand the needs of their workforce.

Serious job-related injuries or illnesses hurt workers and their families. They also have the potential to hurt businesses. Implementing a health and safety program, however, allows businesses to proactively identify and manage workplace hazards before they can cause injury or illness, which improves sustainability and the bottom line.

Thousands of businesses around the country are pledging their commitment to improving workplace safety and health. Participating helps:

  • Identify and manage hazards before they cause injury or illness.
  • Reduce costs of injuries and increase profitability.
  • Improve productivity.
  • Engage your workers in activities to promote a culture of safety.
  • Demonstrate management leadership.
  • Show you are proactive about safety.
  • Network and share best practices.

This year the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has provided resources for businesses on mental health and well-being because workplace safety and health extends beyond just physical hazards.

Visit the Plan and Promote Your Events webpage for ideas on how to participate.

Sign up for Safe + Sound Week today! Send us photos and tell us about what you and your teammates did. Whatever you choose to do we appreciate you working safely every day.
