ISRI’s law enforcement outreach program has been active this fall, meeting with national law enforcement about the benefits of partnerships with the recycled materials industry at the local, state and national levels. Todd Foreman, ISRI’s director of law enforcement outreach, and ReMA members represented the association at two events in October. Todd attended the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference (IACP) in San Diego, California. Approximately 18,000 law enforcement leaders, primarily from the U.S. and Canada, attended the annual conference. ReMA member Scott Kinsbursky joined Todd at the ReMA exhibit hall booth where they explained the benefits, tools and components of ISRI’s law enforcement outreach.

“We spoke with many law enforcement leaders about major issues law enforcement is encountering and how ReMA can help,” said Todd. “We also discussed tools like scraptheftaert.com and ReMA could assist their agencies in building partnerships with representatives of the recycled materials industry within their communities.”

Also in October, Todd led an educational event at ReMA member United Catalyst Corporation in Fountain Hill, South Carolina. The partnership event between United Catalyst and ReMA drew law enforcement officers from three states. Members of law enforcement from South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina heard from Todd as well as Becky Berube and members of her team at United Catalyst Corporation on general catalytic converter education, various methods to preventing catalytic converter thefts and the laws in their respective states.

ISRI members are encouraged to reach out to Todd (tforeman@isri.org) to learn more.
