The ReMA Board of Directors approved proposed amendments (changes in bold) to the existing Saves and Scroll specifications at its Winter Board Meeting in Coral Gables, Florida on Feb. 7, 2024. The ReMA Nonferrous Division approved these changes Oct. 18, 2023.
SAVES
Old Zinc Die Cast Scrap
Shall consist of miscellaneous old zinc base die castings, with or without iron and other foreign attachments. Material can include zinc dies/molds for shoes or other industrial purposes. Must be free of borings, turnings, dross pieces, chunks, melted pieces and skimmings. All unmeltables, dirt, foreign attachments, and volatile substances (such as rubber, cork, plastic, grease, etc.) are deductible. Material containing in excess of 30% iron will not constitute good delivery.
SCROLL
Unsorted Zinc Die Cast Scrap
Produced from automobile fragmentizers. Material to contain about 55% zinc-bearing scrap. Other nonferrous metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, brass/copper/copper alloys, etc., to be about 40%. Insulated copper wire about 1%. Trash, dirt, glass, rubber, oil, iron, not to exceed 5%. Any variations to be sold by special arrangement between buyer and seller.
