Chinese Government Creates Hurdles for Export License Renewal

ISRI continues to hear from member companies that the Chinese Government is creating additional hurdles in order to obtain export license renewals (the licenses commonly known as “AQSIQ licenses,” although that agency was dissolved and its functions taken over by the General Administration of Customs – GAC).  Unfortunately, this is the result of continued U.S.-China trade tensions where U.S. companies across all industry and services sectors that do business in China are facing challenges, including excessive obligations, inappropriate requests and other requirements that may be illegal under U.S. law.

We advise members to follow closely the renewal requirements as set out in the GAC’s guidelines and to know your obligations under U.S. anti-trust and anti-corruption laws when considering complying with additional requests.

Please reach out to Adina Renee Adler if you have any questions.
