Earlier this summer, Congressman John Shimkus (R-IL) announced he will not be seeking reelection in 2020.
Congressman Shimkus is the current Caucus co-chair and the Ranking Member of the Energy & Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on the Environment and the Economy. Mr. Shimkus has been a true leader for recycling and has helped advance recycling through Congressional briefings, hearings, proclamations, etc. He will be missed when he retires at the end of 2020. ISRI will be working with the Mr. Shimkus and Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ) to choose a replacement following his retirement.
