The rule, which goes into effect April 25, covers PPE requirements for workers in general industry, shipyards, longshoring, marine terminals and construction.
The new rule updates OSHA’s Eye and Face Protection Standards to include ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2010 – Occupational and Educational Personal Eye and Face Protection Devices – and remove the 1986 edition of the same standard. OSHA is keeping the 2003 and 1989 versions of the ANSI standard referenced in the standard. OSHA initially proposed changes to its eye and face protection standards on March 13, 2015. Because there were no significant changes suggested during the public comment period, OSHA opted to adopt the rule as proposed last year.
