Ocean Shipping at a Crossroads: Proposed Improvements for our Nation’s Ports

Friday, June 11, 2021 | Noon – 1:00 p.m. (EDT)

Overview:
Ocean shipping is vital for global trade yet the industry has experienced severe problems as global trade has increased. These problems included labor shortages at the ports as a result of the global pandemic, a growing need for a limited supply of equipment such as containers, and ports and terminals not keeping pace with the increases capacity of larger container ships. As the Biden Administration proposes infrastructure spending to tackle these challenges, several proposals have been floated to address the myriad of problems occurring with ocean shipping and our nations ports.

In this webinar, Karyn Booth will outline the National Industrial Transportation League’s recent proposal to strengthen the authorities of the Federal Maritime Commission and other changes to improve ocean shipping for U.S. shippers.
