(Washington, DC) – In the lead up to its 2021 Annual Convention and Exposition, the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) today released a list of new speakers for its Domestic and Global Market Trading track. The list is composed of senior executives, policy experts, and economists from around the recycling industry that can help attendees navigate today’s markets.

“The ISRI2021 domestic and global market trading track will provide a variety of expert viewpoints from commodity analysts, scrap processers, consumers, and brokers,” said Joe Pickard, chief economist and director of commodities for ISRI. “Attendees not only get the analysts’ forecasts about where commodity markets are headed, but they also get to hear from fellow industry members about what’s driving their businesses, and how they have adapted to the ever-changing and evolving markets.”

General Session – State of the Industry: Economic Outlook and Impact Study, Thursday, April 22 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. ET
Given the long list of risk factors facing the global economy today, our economic prognosticators will have plenty to discuss and examine during this year’s State of the Industry session. As an added bonus, advanced results of the 2021 U.S. Scrap Industry Economic Impact Study, prepared by John Dunham & Associates, will be available for attendees. This session will be invaluable for anyone who wants a better understanding of the economic outlook. Attendees will come away with the latest tools and resources to advocate for the industry, and the ability to educate policymakers, the press, and the public about the economic output, jobs, and tax revenue generated by recyclers.

Paper Spotlight, Thursday, April 22, 12:45–1:45 p.m. ET
Over the past year, the paper industry has undergone many changes: adjusting to the increased demand of the at-home market and the minimizing of the away-from-home markets. This has resulted in new and announced capacity for some markets and a reduction of capacity for other markets. The ever-changing international laws and trade agreements continue to influence the paper industry too. This session will identify the effects of these changes and determine opportunities for the pulp and paper industry

Major pressures continued to influence plastic recycler operations. This session will breakdown and address these pressures and their effects on plastic recyclers.

Electronics Spotlight, Wednesday, April 28, 12:45-1:45 p.m. ET
Dynamic change is a fact of life for electronics recycling and ITAD companies.
