ReMA Announces 2024 Young Executive of the Year Recipient

(March 27, 2024 - Washington, D.C.) – ISRI, the Voice of the Recycled Materials Industry™, has named Zach Mallin as the recipient of its 2024 Young Executive of the Year Award. Mallin was selected for the honor due to his numerous contributions and accomplishments within ReMA and the recycled materials industry.

“Zach embodies the qualities of the Young Executive of the Year Award and continually demonstrates his desire to help lead the recycled materials industry into the future,” said ReMA President Robin Wiener. “ISRI is pleased to present this important award to Zach in recognition of his outstanding leadership, initiative, vision, and in his commitment to advocating for the recycled materials industry with policy makers.”

Mallin is a fourth-generation recycler and currently vice president of Mallin Companies, Inc., which has served Kansas City, Missouri for more than 96 years. He learned the recycled materials industry from the ground up while working at Mallin each summer during college to learn about the dynamics of the industry.

He graduated with a degree in business from the University of Missouri. Zach has served many leadership roles within ISRI, including service on ISRI’s Board of Directors as Mid-America Chapter president, and ISRI’s Young Executive Council. He also held membership roles on ISRI’s Council of Chapter Presidents, Membership Committee, Finance Committee, and Government Relations Committee. Zach is also a former chapter vice president, treasurer, and secretary.

“I am truly honored to receive the award of ISRI’s Young Executive of the Year,” said Mallin. “This award is unique and is appreciated to the utmost. Earning this recognition reinforces my drive and commitment to the industry and my fellow young executives. This experience will continue to motivate me to promote and advocate for our industry and our trade association. Moving forward I wish to drive my fellow young executives to dedicate their time to our cause and to move our professional careers in a positive way to impact our industry. I cannot thank my peers and colleagues enough for this prestigious award, and I look forward to growing our careers within our industry.”

According to his colleagues, Mallin has an innate ability to empower employees in individual ways, helping each employee understand how important their role is to the organization. He also has the ability to streamline efforts and seek the best products for customers.

In addition to his dedication to the recycled materials industry, Mallin is involved in community service activities. He is active within Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity and has served as chair of several major charitable fundraising events in his community, including KC Hospice and Palliative Care.
