Recycling Research Foundation Seeks Silent Auction Donations

(Washington, DC) - The Recycling Research Foundation (RRF) announced today, that it has begun accepting donations for its 2017 Silent Auction. The Auction will raise money to help fund RRF’s National Foundation Scholarships and National Veterans Stipend, as well as research designed to benefit the recycling industry.

For 50 years, the Recycling Research Foundation, a nonprofit closely associated with the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), has advanced the scrap industry through its issue analysis and academic scholarship support. The Foundation’s mission is to “promote the art and science of scrap processing and recycling through research, sponsorships, technical assistance, and educational programs for the purpose of advancing the industry.

“Over the last 15 years, the Recycling Research Foundation has fulfilled its mission through the offering of scholarships to both undergraduate and graduate students, and the funding of research beneficial to the industry,” said ISRI President Robin Wiener.

Since 2002, the Foundation has awarded over $1.1 million in scholarships to more than 900 students. In 2010, RRF began sponsoring a graduate scholarship open to those working in fields that may directly benefit the recycling industry, and in 2013, the Foundation started a special 4-year, $8,000 stipend to former enlisted personnel.

Each year, the Recycling Research Foundation (RRF) holds a silent auction in conjunction with ISRI’s convention and exposition as the primary way of raising money to continue its mission. The 2017 ISRI Convention and Exposition will take place April 22-27 in New Orleans.

Popular donations in the past have included tickets to the Grammy’s and Emmy’s, scrap art, hotel stays, equipment, magazine ads, and fully-paid destination trips. Monetary donations are also accepted. Contributions to RRF are tax deductible under Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
