Recycling Industry Recognizes Safe Fleets with Vehicle Safety Awards

Washington, DC)–The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), the Voice of the Recycling Industry™, announced the winners of its fourth annual Vehicle Safety Awards recognizing top members for outstanding commitment to the safety of employees and the general public as evidenced by progressive and effective fleet safety programs. The awards come in two categories: Best Fleet Award and Pacesetter Award.

“Safe drivers and safe fleets make all of the difference,” said Commodor Hall, ISRI’s transportation safety director. “Customers and the motoring public are constantly observing and commenting on the driving habits of truck drivers. As an industry we must continue to place a heavy emphasis on transportation safety to guarantee that all vehicles are safe from the moment the engine clicks on to when it is shut off.”

Based on class size, the Best Fleet Award is presented to the ReMA member with the lowest vehicle accident rate, and the lowest U.S. Department of Transportation severity rate in 2015. The Pacesetter Award, also based on class, is granted to the ReMA member using the same criteria as the Best Fleet Award but covering a three-year period, in this case January 1, 2013 – December 31, 2015.
