Washington, DC – During the 2015 Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) Convention, the association which serves as the Voice of the Recycling Industry TM elected three new directors to its board. The new Directors-At-Large, serving two-year terms ending in 2017, are Brian Henesey of Rocky Mountain Recycling, Inc., Matthew Kripke of Kripke Enterprises, Inc., and Michael Potash of Sioux City Compressed Steel Company.
“Over the years, through their involvement with ISRI, I have gotten to know and respect Brian, Matt, and Mike,” said Doug Kramer, chair of ISRI’s Board of Directors. “I have no doubt that their expertise, knowledge, and leadership skills are just a few of the many reasons they were elected to serve on the Board by their peers. Over the course of their terms, they will no doubt help shape the future of the industry and lead us in the right direction.”
Brian Henesey is currently the Vice President and General Manager of Rocky Mountain Recycling, Inc., (RMR) located in Commerce City, Colorado. Brian grew up in Duquesne, PA, where he began his career in the recycling industry as a summer employee at Vac-Air Alloys, of which eventually became part of Keywell, LLC. After he graduated college, Keywell hired Brian as a management trainee, and later assigned him to the role of plant operations manager of a facility in Houston, TX in 1995. In 1998, he accepted a position as a commercial buyer with RMR. Since then, Brian has been active with all commercial, operational, EH&S and legislative activities associated with the company. He resides in Denver, Colorado with his girlfriend Tammy and English bulldog, Bella Blue.
Matthew Kripke is president and co-owner of Kripke Enterprises (KEI) in Toledo, Ohio. KEI is a non-ferrous broker, specializing in aluminum. The company has a warehouse in Toledo for consolidating loads and also a trading office in Boca Raton, Florida. He received a BBA degree from the University of Michigan in 1990 and joined KEI in 1994.
Matt is married to Jill Kripke and has three kids: Sari, Asher, and Chase. He has served on numerous non-profit boards and serves on the board of Signature Bank in Toledo. He is also a member of Young Presidents Organization. Matt has served in a number of roles on the national ISRI board since 2008.
Michael Potash grew up in Sioux City, Iowa, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Iowa. He began his career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, then ran a structural steel fabrication shop for approximately 20 years. Michael has been working in the scrap business with Sioux City Compressed Steel since 1995. He has participated in a variety of ISRI activities including at the Chapter and National levels, and helped with advocacy efforts at the federal, state, and local levels. Michael has been married for 46 years, and has three grown children and three grandchildren.
The convention was held April 21-25 in Vancouver, Canada.
