Former Eagles Lead Guitarist Legend Who Wrote Music for Grammy Award-Winning “Hotel California” to Perform Classics
Washington, D.C. – The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) today announced that former Eagles lead guitarist Don Felder will cap off the 2011 ISRI Convention and Exposition at a gala final night concert event called “An Evening at the Hotel California.” ISRI has reserved L.A. LIVE’s Club Nokia for the private event.
Felder, also a best-selling author with his “Heaven and Hell: My Life with the Eagles,” will play some of The Eagles most memorable classics for the ISRI crowd at a Saturday, April 9, gala reception. The evening will be feature Wolfgang Puck Catering, serving signature specialties from the internationally renowned chef and restaurateur.
According to his biography, Felder was one of the five members and former lead guitarist of the rock group the Eagles for 27 years. Credited with adding a rock and roll edge to their country sound, he wrote the music for their biggest hit, the multi-Grammy Award winning song “Hotel California.” With 14 Grammy nominations and four wins, his signature guitar work has become legendary on songs like “Hotel California,” “Life In The Fast Lane,” “One Of These Nights,” “New Kid In Town” and others.
A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1998, Felder is now writing and recording songs for an upcoming solo project and worldwide tour.
“This year’s closing gala at the beautiful L.A. LIVE sports and entertainment district will feature the rock and roll music of Don Felder and fabulous food from Wolfgang Puck’s team,” said Bruce Blue, ISRI Convention and Exposition Chair. “We will wrap up by rocking down.”

Felder and the Eagles also hold the honor of having the first Platinum album certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). That album, The Eagles’ Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, has sold more than 26 million copies, becoming the best-selling album of the 20th century.
“Don Felder will be showing ISRI members, family and friends a whole new side of platinum,” said Robin Wiener, ISRI President.
The ISRI Convention and Exposition is one of the world’s largest meetings of scrap recycling professionals. The conference offers attendees the opportunity to hear from A-list speakers and industry thought leaders and the exhibit hall has grown to include over 350 exhibits showcasing the latest technologies and practices within the recycling industry. Annually, this ISRI event hosts around 5,000 attendees, representing 49 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and more than 40 countries. The 2011 convention is on track to be one of the most well-attended of ISRI’s conventions ever.
