William “Billy” Johnson is the Chief Lobbyist at the Institute for Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI) in Washington, D.C. Billy works closely with ISRI members to formulate and advance proactive recycling policy strategies for a variety of issues, such as electronics recycling, trade promotion, ocean, truck and rail transportation, and recycling equipment tax policies.

Accordingly, Billy actively activates ISRI’s members through a constituent-based advocacy program using Membership Fly-In Days and Congressional facility tours to communicate and advance the recycling industry’s priorities.

Billy has a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from North Carolina State University and a Masters in Public Administration from Virginia Tech. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, sailing, and dreaming of a shiny red Porsche convertible.

Craig Boswell is co-founder and President of HOBI International, Inc. He is extensively involved in the design, development, and deployment of electronics demanufacturing and recycling techniques.

Additionally, Craig is HOBI’s chief industry consultant on demanufacturing, design for disassembly, and reverse logistics programs. Craig has published and presented numerous papers on electronic products recycling and the keys to designing more recyclable products.

Craig holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois, an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Mike is an industry advisor with key focus on Producer Responsibility, technology, and global operations.

In his most recent role as Chief Compliance Officer for Global Resale, Mike is responsible for all aspects of regulatory compliance, Environmental Health and Safety, and quality management in this rapidly expanding global electronics wholesale/resale/refurbish/recycling business.

Prior to joining Global Resale, and for more than a decade, Mike served as Director of Global Compliance for Dell’s Producer Responsibility efforts. In this role, Mr. Watson led the development and implementation of Dell’s global policies, including regulatory interpretation, service delivery, vendor auditing and information systems implementation. He was also responsible for ensuring Dell’s compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations globally as they relate to computer recycling and reuse. During his Dell tenure, Mr. Watson led the industry drive, along with the US EPA, toward creating and implementing the R2 standard.

Mr. Watson was a lead content contributor in Dell’s drive to the Forbes Number 1 Green Company in North America in 2010 and Gartner’s ITAD Leader Magic Quadrant for 2011. Mr. Watson was recognized as the winner of the 2011 eWaste Management Summit’s ‘Electronics Excellence Executive’ award.

Mike continues to represent the electronics recycling/refurbishment segment in industry standards development, including serving on the board of Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (housing organization for R2 standard), R2’s Technical Advisory Council, and Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association’s (CTIA) Leadership Council and their working groups focused on standards development in the mobility device space.

Sean De Vries is the R2 Director with Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI), the non-profit organization that administers the Sustainable Electronics Reuse & Recycling (R2) Standard. Sean manages the development and implementation of the R2 Standard and works closely with the multi-stakeholder R2 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) on updates to the standard.

Before joining SERI, Sean was Director of the Recycler Qualification Office (RQO), an organization established to audit and approve reuse and recycling organizations under the industry-led end-of-life electronics recycling programs across Canada. Sean also led the development of the Electronics Reuse and Refurbishing Program (ERRP) and the Recycler Qualification Program (RQP), and served as a member of the R2 TAC.

Fredrik Forslund serves as Vice President, Enterprise & Cloud Erasure Solutions for Blancco. He’s also the Director of the International Data Sanitization Consortium (IDSC), where he leads the organization in its mission to educate industry and standards bodies about the permanent eradication of data, clarifying guidelines to ensure compliance with data security and privacy laws, and how to fully enable circular and sustainable IT asset management.

With more than 20 years of Industry experience and a keen eye for streamlining and automating corporate IT security efficiencies, while maintaining compliance with data privacy legislation, Forslund is often regarded as a trusted advisor among large customers and to Government organisations.

When he’s not guiding customers through data erasure processes, or working with Blancco’s internal teams, he can be found speaking at industry conferences around the globe.

Karen Fedder holds the position of Director of ITAD at Blancco. With 25+ years of professional technology experience, including working with one of the largest hardware distributors in North America and a leading technology escrow company. For the last 10 years Karen has been with Blancco serving as the ITAD Subject Matter Expert.

A regular moderator and thought leadership presenter at ITAD, reverse logistics and technology events, Karen is known as a trusted advisor to the industry. Her articles have been published in the RLA magazine and EScrap News, amongst other industry publications. Karen is an active member of the ISRI Electronics Committee. as well as the Reverse Logistics Association, ASCDI and TERRA.

Passionate about promoting the circular economy, Karen focusses on demonstrating how organizations can reduce active touch time and labor costs, while increasing throughput and maximizing device resale value.

Paul advises a diverse group of corporate and trade association clients on environmental matters, including responsible sourcing, market access and the circular economy. He has assisted several clients with the successful implementation of national and global product take-back and recycling programs for electronics, batteries, unused medicines, and other products.

He also advises on the negotiation and implementation of regional and global environmental agreements governing the circular economy, with a particular focus on waste shipment controls arising under the Basel Convention and requirements of the Stockholm POPs Convention.

Paul is active with several leading conservation organizations. He serves on the board of the Conservation Fund, a non-profit that has protected over 8 million acres of natural lands and working landscapes. He is a former board chair of the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) and the Chesapeake Conservancy.

Paul is a frequent lecturer on international environmental law and is a past adjunct professor at the Washington College of Law at American University (Washington and Geneva).
