ISRI’s Annual Safety Stand-Down Day 2021
Recycling is essential to our country and to our communities. Safe and healthy workplaces are just as critical to the recycling industry’s managers and workers. Join ISRI on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 for this year’s Safety Stand-Down Day. On this day we ask that you take one hour on each shift to celebrate your workforce and your health & safety programs. Some of the ways ISRI members have celebrated Safety Stand-Down Day include:
- Holding a training class;
- Conducting blind spot drills around mobile equipment;
- Reviewing near misses and other potentially serious injuries that may have happened in the work environment; and
- Holding open forums with employees to discuss ways to continuously improve the health & safety program (seek input and buy-in).
OSHA’s Safe + Sound campaign focuses on three pillars that form a strong health & safety program: management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards. Please take a few minutes to review how the campaign can help your operations and your business’ health & safety strategy and programming. Feel free to add the following web links and materials to your resource library and files.
