ISRI members from both the Pittsburgh and Mid-Atlantic chapters met in Harrisburg, PA on Wednesday, May 1, to meet with legislators to introduce and discuss the recycling industry. Organized by their joint state lobbyist Greenlee Partners, this was a day full of appointments throughout the capitol complex.
A group of 12 from ISRI held a total of 52 meetings in one day. As one of the Greenlee Partners described it, there were more meetings with legislators and recyclers in this one day than the entire Fraternal Order of Police had during their recent capitol visit. The day’s meetings were topped off with a reception held at the Greenlee headquarters where ISRI members and legislators/staff mingled. The day was capped off with several recyclers attending the 46th Annual State of Politics Dinner featuring national political reporter Salena Zito, at which the chapters sponsored a table.
All in all, it was a great event showcasing the commitment of ISRI members who take their roles as citizen advocates for the recycling industry seriously and have some fun while they’re at it. ISRI applauds the chapters for this well designed and attended event. If your chapter is interested in holding a state advocacy training session that could parlay into a day at the state capitol, contact Danielle Waterfield at ISRI for more information on how to start planning.
