Safe workers are more likely to be productive and happy workers. But when employees interact as frequently with the public at large as a fleet driver does, the need for good driving habits and a focus on driver safety becomes much more important.
For companies that deploy fleets, driver safety is a matter of public responsibility. Simply instructing drivers to “drive safely” is great, but is it effective?
It’s better to narrow your focus to the driver level, instill good driving habits, and invest in your employees and equipment by driver selection, new hire/recurrence training, accountability, accident avoidance devices, and safe equipment. Driver and fleet recognition also pays huge dividends. The ISRI Transportation Safety Awards program is now in its sixth year. The awards program reflects the value and importance that the industry places on vehicle safety by recognizing the top performers in the field, both at individual and company levels. The awards are presented during ISRI’s annual convention.
Individuals and company fleets are recognized in the following areas:
- Safe Driver Awards
- Fleet Safety Awards: Best in Class and Pacesetter
- Golden Wrench Award (for vehicle technicians, and managers)
All entries must be submitted between January 1 and March 15, 2018. Award winners will be announced during ISRI2018 in Las Vegas. For more information, visit ISRI Safety Transportation Safety Awards, and if you have any questions, contact ISRI’s Transportation Safety Director Commodor Hall.
