As ISRI reported earlier, China notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) with a set of proposed standards on imports of scrap, including setting “carried waste” thresholds on levels generally more stringent than found in ISRI Specifications.
Those standards have been translated and uploaded to the ISRI website.
ISRI staff and leadership will be in Beijing next week to meet with Chinese government officials, the U.S. Embassy, and industry partners to obtain more information and clarity on China’s scrap import regulations, including the proposed standards notified to the WTO. We will share any information and developments as soon as we return.
If you have any questions or input to comments ISRI will send to the WTO, please contact Adina Renee Adler.
