Following a successful meeting this past April at the ISRI’s Annual Convention, the Tire Division formed an ad hoc committee to develop a forward looking strategy to advance the use of rubberized asphalt in the states.
Although ISRI was involved in advocating for this issue, several years ago, this renewed push will look to the FHWA for a guidance statement that will encourage states to use more rubberized asphalt. It is hoped that the statement will require state to document their current use of RA and justify the situations and obstacles that might inhibit growth in the state. At their last meeting in April, the Tire Division passed an updated policy statement which supports legislation that would encourage the use of rubberized asphalt. The policy can be found here
