ISRI Board Passes Comprehensive Plastic Scrap Specifications

At ISRI’s Board meeting last week, the Board of Directors passed a comprehensive set of post-consumer plastic scrap specifications.

After a complete review by ISRI’s Plastics Division, the Division found that many of its existing specifications were not in agreement with the norms of the industry in relation to the definitions and terms of the items being traded. The Division worked with other stakeholders in the industry such as the Association of Plastic Recyclers, to ensure the specifications were in harmony with their scrap specifications.

A summary of the changes can be found on the ISRI website.

With this comprehensive update to ISRI’s post-consumer scrap specifications, the Division will now turn to develop scrap specifications for post-commercial materials such as PVC, polycarbonate, engineered resins, and other materials that commonly appear in our member’s yards.

If you have ideas or suggestions for specifications to develop please feel free to contact Jonathan Levy.
