Although summer is the time for R&R and vacations, the ISRI Board of Directors and other volunteer leaders were hard at work July 16-19 at our summer board and governance meetings in Washington, DC.
In addition to discussing current industry market,
legislative, regulatory, and international trade trends, attendees addressed
important association business including progress on ISRI’s strategic plan.
At its two meetings
July 17 and July 19, the board approved measures to:

Change
the procedures for adding, amending, or withdrawing scrap specifications,
including an amendment to the original motion to send any proposed changes to
all ISRI members.
Amend
ISRI’s policies on reimbursable expenses for speakers and panel members at
ISRI’s annual convention and exposition.
Elect
Kevin Lamar of Dynamic Metal Services (Cleveland) and Edward Kangeter IV of
CASS (Oakland, CA) to fill two open positions on the Audit Committee and David
Borsuk of Sadoff Iron & Metal Co. (Fond du Lac, WI) to fill the
director-at-large position Brian Henesey of Rocky Mountain Recycling (Commerce
City, CO) vacated after his election as ISRI national secretary/treasurer in
April.
The
appointment of Doug Kramer of Kramer Metals (Los Angeles) to the RIOS™ Board of
Directors as the representative of ISRI Standing Committee and Council Chairmen
Change
the ISRI PAC policy, adding the words “members of” in the following sentence:
“The Board of Directors of ISRI declares as its first goal that all members of
ISRI’s Board of Directors’ and Chapter officers’ companies should, if possible,
be ISRI PAC authorized – ideally with a full five (5) year authorization.”
Rescind ISRI’s
outdated Position on the Recycling of Automobiles Containing Unspent Air Bags. ISRI Chair Mark Lewon has formed an Airbag
Working Group to help develop an updated position.
Accept
the association’s financial statement and its investment portfolio statement
for the five months from January through May 2016.
Approve
a new specification for Postconsumer TPO Plastic Automotive Bumper Covers.
In its initial meeting on July 17, the ISRI Board approved the consent
agenda, covering the minutes of its April 2 and April 4 meetings as well as the
April 7 election and officer installation meeting, all held in conjunction with
ISRI2016 in Las Vegas. .
