Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc.

Robert Ellsworth is the Corporate Sustainability Program Manager for Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. Ellsworth joined Schnitzer in 2010 as an intern and became its first Sustainability lead in 2012. Over the past 11 years Ellsworth has built, from the ground up, Schnitzer’s Sustainability program, including its reporting obligations, and various projects and initiatives within the Company’s operations, EH&S, public affairs, procurement, and investor relations functional groups.  Ellsworth holds an M.B.A. from Portland State University in Oregon, and a B.S. in Biology from San Diego State University in California.

Sims Limited

Elise Gautier is the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer of Sims Limited, an Australian-listed company. Sims operations encompasses the buying, processing and selling of ferrous and non-ferrous recycled metals; the end of life management and recovery of electronics; and operates NYC municipal recycling.  Sims is looking to expand in the waste to energy space to close its own loop as well as expands its stake in landfill waste to energy. As a key member of the Sims executive management team, she is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of company-wide programs relating to risk, compliance,  EH&S, and sustainability to help drive achievement of the company’s strategic goals and Sims’ positioning as a key enabler of the circular economy.

Susan-RobinsonSusan Robinson 

Senior Director of Sustainability and Policy
Waste Management 

Susan Robinson leads WM’s Sustainability Team.  In this role, she is responsible for WM’s sustainability policy, advocacy and reporting.   Her 30+ years in the industry includes work in the public sector, non-profit environmental work, consultancy, and over 25 years in the private sector.  Susan’s experience includes global commodity marketing, research and analysis of industry trends, and twenty years managing municipal solid waste and recycling contracts.  Susan is active on several boards including the American Institute for Packaging and Environment (Ameripen), Paper Stock Industries (PSI), the Southeast Recycling Development Council (SERDC), and the ReFED Advisory Council.  Susan attended Stanford University and holds a B.S. in Applied Earth Sciences from the University of Washington.  Her Masters work in Environmental Studies is from The Evergreen State College.
