Complementary Businesses to the Scrap Industry

Overview
Many recycling industry service providers are used to add value, increase efficiency with in current processes and systems, and enhance strategic decision making. One major trend of adoption is the growing interest in a type of risk management known as hedging. We’ll talk about its place in the shifting market, highlight technology software advancements, along with the benefits of using it as a business risk mitigation tool.

Scott A. Pollan, Founder of EMS, Director of Recycling Services at Zaner Metals, and ISRI Young Executive

Scott is the president of Chicago, IL based Emergency Material Services, LLC, a metals industry consulting firm and short-term labor services provider. He is the Director of Recycling Services at Zaner Group, LLC, an Independent Introductory Broker also located in Chicago, IL. Prior to Emergency Material Services and Zaner Group, Scott was a ferrous metals trader at Azcon Metals, a domestic steel mill services provider.

Scott studied economic geology and mineral exploration in Duluth, MN before earning a B.Sc. in Earth Science at Montana State University – Bozeman. He has experience working with the mining industry, the recycling industry, the refinery and mill industries, as well as the transportation and financial service industries. Scott is a lifelong-learner and draws on a wealth of generational knowledge centered around the metals industry.
