The third version of the international electronics recycling standard - R2v3 was released on July 1st after five years of development and better reflects the changing dynamics of the electronics recycling and reuse industry. R2v3 includes expanded requirements in several areas such as data protection, test and repair, and environmental diligence, as well as new options for companies specializing in certain processes. As more electronics recyclers become internationally certified, these changes must be adopted in order to remain compliant and retain their R2 certification. In this session, SERI's R2 Director will discuss these changes to the new standard, available resources, and the certification transition timeline.
