ISRI Metal Theft Laws - State Preemption

Many states have determined that it is in the best interest of the state and law enforcement to have a uniform statewide metals theft law to deter thieves from "forum shopping" to avoid detection. State preemption provisions for metals theft often include statutory limits that range from full preemption to preemption of only conflicting local law.
