For years, China has been a major importer of scrap materials and understanding their role in the marketplace was key for any scrap recycler. However, in recent months China has developed regulatory policies that are changing the way recyclers look at the country and how they do business. What do the signals the Chinese government is sending mean and how will these new policies impact domestic markets here at home? Will China continue to play a lead role in scrap markets or will recyclers look to newer emerging markets elsewhere in Asia and perhaps Central or South America?
