Scrap Specifications Circular

First published in 1919, ISRI's Scrap Specifications Circular has become the universal language for scrap buyers and sellers in domestic and international trades—shorthand for scrap transactions.

The specifications assign a word, number, and/or letters to a scrap product, followed by a brief item description and a more detailed summary—the specification—of the material.

It is available as a free download (PDF). A print, bound edition is available for sale at the ISRI Store.

Note: The Circular's publication schedule is not based on the calendar year. Until ISRI's Board of Directors approves specifications changes, the 2008 edition, effective 10/22/09, is the most recent edition.

For more information on ISRI's Specifications, see The Story on Specs in Scrap, September/October 2005, from the online article archives at scrap.org.

ISRI's Scrap Specifications Circular is a copyrighted document. It cannot be reprinted in whole or in part without the prior written permission of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc.
